Tour the Factory: Mobile Classroom - November 2002View new photos of a prototype classroom mobile unit for the Northern Territories in Canada IHI's applied technology at work This mobile classroom unit is equipped with a bathroom and heating system. The special Hi-Tech frames of the individual panels have been designed to meet the - 60° C temperature of the area. The hollow steel tubes of the frames have been insulated with a special fire proof material to allow for welding during manufacturing and eliminating thermal bridges after installation. This is another example of the flexibility and high technology of the IHI building system. This 40 ft. x 26 ft. BOX after being assembled on site in a few hours can easily be transported as a unit to other locations as required by the client. The unit does not need foundations and is resistant to all forces of nature. It will be a very safe place for the children. IHI will provide many more of those units badly needed in that area. This is the most efficient, safe and value way to build in such very cold regions. Below are some pictures of the unit pre-assembled at the IHI DELTA factory without concrete, to illustrate the structural connections, electrical conduits, pipe shafts, ventilation pipes, high insulation values with thermal breaks that are incorporated also in the frames of windows and doors.
